Denver and the surrounding areas. We also offer well-baby care and emergency and
pediatric consultations.
A Team of Experts in Pediatric Hospitalist and Intensive Care
Services
Pediatric Hospital
Care A pediatric hospitalist is a hospital-based
pediatrician who has completed a pediatric residency with emphasis on inpatient
management of newborns and acutely ill infants and children. A hospitalist may
treat medical problems like fever, infections, breathing difficulties (croup,
asthma, pneumonia) and dehydration.
If your
child's primary doctor uses our hospitalist services, our hospitalist will care
for your newborn or child only when he or she is in the hospital. Our doctor
will will examine your child
on a daily basis, keep you updated on on your child's condition, and provide
patient education materials. Our doctors are available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week,
including weekends and holidays.
Pediatric Intensive Care A
pediatric intensivist, sometimes called a pediatric
critical care physician, is a pediatrician who has
completed advanced training. These physicians typically treat more severe problems
seen in critically ill children whose often
unstable medical condition requires admission to the Pediatric Intensive Care
Unit (PICU). The PICU is a special intensive care
unit dedicated to taking care of sick infants and children with
severe problems such as trauma, critical lung and heart disease and car
or near-drowning accidents. Our pediatric intensivists are available 24-hours-a-day in
the PICU.
In some
cases, your child's pediatrician may request that a pediatric intensivist
consult or attend to your child on the pediatric ward. Common problems that
pediatric intensivists address in the pediatric unit include metabolic
abnormalities, infections, feeding difficulties, pain management and sedation,
as well as post-operative issues.
